Orangery extension of a country home

The Challenge

A very special project based in the historic city of Salisbury, the team at D&N Construction was appointed to undertake an orangery extension - creating a new open plan kitchen and living area as part of a beautiful country home; finding a way of elegantly showcasing the farmhouse’s characterful period features whilst also bringing a light, modern and contemporary feel to the property.

Our Solution

A period farmhouse, the property benefited from a generous garden space. We used this space wisely and added an orangery extension to the property - a large conservatory built predominantly from glass.

This extension added 52 square metres to the property which enabled us to design an open plan kitchen and living area that was bathed in natural light from the garden - an area that consisted of stunning oak beams as a respectful nod to the traditions of the property yet an area spacious enough to allow the new contemporary kitchen to own - without dominating - the space.

What’s more, the extension also called for a new garden layout which better serves to blend the indoor space with the outdoor.

Project Success

A particularly photogenic project, the farmhouse orangery extension was featured in the September 2020 edition of South Wiltshire Living magazine, as part of a double-page spread.
